Course summary
This course uses well known picture books and some lesser known texts to create drama stories designed to enhance children’s communication through sign, symbols, sounds, and the spoken word. It is particularly suitable for classrooms with mixed abilities.
What you will learn

To take your favourite picture book and create literacy sessions designed to develop communication skills.

To use role play, hot seating, and improvisation to encourage listening, speaking and interaction.

To use props, masks, costumes and sensory items to amplify the story, the keywords, and the characters.

To use, switches, Ipads microphones, IWB to encourage verbal and pre verbal skills.

To include signs, symbols, pictures and words through differentiated activities and outcomes within the story.

To plan, assess and record evidence for each drama story.

Practicalities
