Hilary Freeborough
Hilary is an experienced teacher (for nearly 30 years!!) of children with complex needs and learning difficulties. She is also parent to a non verbal teenager with severe learning difficulties and complex health needs. She has an in-depth understanding of communication and learning difficulties. Hilary is a Regional Makaton Tutor and has daily practise using her Makaton skills both at home and at work!
Makaton Tutors meet criteria and standards which are set by The Makaton Charity. Hilary receives regular updates from the charity and must attend Continual Professional Development days as part of her licence to practice.
Hilary particularly enjoys using Makaton and other forms of AAC creatively for sensory stories, rhymes and games. She recognises the importance of having ‘fun’ to create and establish learning memories.
